Project Management Consultancy – Bamroli STP Augmentation under AMRUT Mission
We were appointed as Project Management Consultants (PMC) for the augmentation of the existing 100 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Bamroli, expanding its capacity to 215 MLD. This critical urban infrastructure project aims to meet future sewage treatment demands while adhering to advanced treatment norms under the AMRUT Mission framework.
Scope of Work:
- PMC for Field Execution:
End-to-end management of on-site construction, testing, and commissioning of a new 115 MLD STP facility integrated with the existing infrastructure. - Advanced Treatment Systems:
Implementation of BNR (Biological Nutrient Removal) and BPR (Biological Phosphorus Removal) technologies, along with UV disinfection for tertiary level treatment. - Automation & Monitoring:
Integration of PLC–SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and control from Surat Municipal Corporation’s central SCADA room. - Long-Term O&M Support:
Provisions for a 10-year operation and maintenance framework post-commissioning.
Key Project Metrics:
- New Capacity Addition: 115 MLD (Total 215 MLD)
- Treatment Technologies: SBR, UV Disinfection, Sludge Management
- SCADA Monitoring: Centralized, real-time performance diagnostics
- Execution Progress: 90% physical work completed as per report
Treated Effluent Parameters:
Treated Effluent Highlights – Bamroli STP (215 MLD)
- BOD: Less than 10 mg/l
(Removes over 97% of organic waste) - COD: Less than 50 mg/l
(Ensures chemical pollutants are minimized) - TSS (Total Suspended Solids): Less than 10 mg/l
(Crystal-clear discharge quality) - Total Nitrogen: Less than 10 mg/l
(Meets Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) standards) - Total Phosphorus: Less than 2 mg/l
(Compliant with Biological Phosphate Removal (BPR) limits) - Fecal Coliform: Less than 100 MPN/100ml
(Safe for discharge or reuse as per CPCB norms)
Impact:
This augmentation project plays a pivotal role in Surat’s expanding urban sanitation network. By increasing treatment capacity and incorporating tertiary treatment systems, the project ensures effective wastewater management for a growing population. The addition of UV disinfection and nutrient removal aligns with environmental compliance goals and public health priorities.
The project also strengthens Surat’s urban resilience by integrating automation and SCADA-based controls, enabling smarter, data-driven plant operations. With long-term O&M built in, the Bamroli STP sets a precedent for sustainable infrastructure under the AMRUT initiative.
